My favorite TV shows and movies are the ones that make me laugh but also make me feel. Slapstick comedy with an unexpected gut punch. Great examples: Ted Lasso, Forgetting Sarah Marshall, The Good Place, Mrs. Doubtfire, Liar Liar, & Elf.
That’s what I strive for in my screenwriting: high-concept comedy with heart.
